United for Community

Addressing urgent needs today and advancing a better tomorrow.

Community Impact

By connecting efforts and fostering collaboration on a hyper-local level all across the Capital Region, we invest in community organizations that meet immediate basic needs while building opportunities with ALICE households.

Emergency Response

Government Shutdown

United Way of the Greater Capital Region has launched a Government Shutdown Relief Fund to support essential federal employees who are impacted by the ongoing government shutdown as of October 2025.

United Way partnered with the Regional Food Bank to provide emergency support for federal employees who continue to work without pay during the ongoing federal government shutdown, which started October 1, 2025.

Funds raised through the Government Shutdown Relief Fund, enabled United Way to provide immediate assistance to more than 200 essential employees who work at the Albany International Airport.

Albany County Snap Relief

United Way of the Greater Capital Region established an emergency SNAP Relief Fund to support local families who are losing critical food assistance due to recent federal cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
